For weeks now I’ve been bouncing in and out of people’s blogs on Thursdays and encountering Thursday Thirteen<\/a> posts.<\/p>\n

Standard meme’s have a quiz like structure. Everyone posts their answers to the pre-specified questions. When I’ve encountered these meme’s in the past, I just haven’t been that interested in participating. Thursday Thirteen<\/a> is different. It’s a weekly meme<\/a> that let’s the poster set the topic.<\/p>\n

I’ve decided I’m going to give it a whirl. I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to make this a permanent addition to my Thursday postings, but I figure we’ll try it out for a month and see how it plays out.<\/p>\n

And now, without further ado, I present to thee my list of 13 things I learned from my dad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirteen Things about SHE<\/strong>. Things my father taught me.<\/center><\/p>\n

  1. Multiplication tables.<\/li>\n
  2. How to take pictures with a manual camera.<\/li>\n
  3. Love of reading.<\/li>\n
  4. The world does not stop spinning if you don’t get your own way. If you want something, you’ve got to earn it.<\/li>\n
  5. How to use a computer (including programming) \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Which I think highly influenced the fact that my first career was computer related.<\/li>\n
  6. There are three sides to every story \u00e2\u20ac\u201c yours, mine and the truth.<\/li>\n
  7. True charity doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t require a tax receipt.<\/li>\n
  8. Believing in something doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mean blindly following all elements of a doctrine. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s possible to have faith and work to be a good person without attending church.<\/li>\n
  9. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s possible to forgive the worst mistakes of your children \u00e2\u20ac\u201c even if you never forget.<\/li>\n
  10. Never to ask anyone to do something I am unwilling to do myself.<\/li>\n
  11. Never hold anyone to a standard you are unwilling or unable to meet yourself.<\/li>\n
  12. The more I learn, the less I \u00e2\u20ac\u0153know\u00e2\u20ac?. Learning is continuous, never ending, and often cyclical and that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ok.<\/li>\n
  13. Never let a moment pass by where you can tell a loved one how much they mean to you. You may never get another chance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
