It occurred to me last evening that I jokingly referred to Drew’s friends as “hoity toity” on my Saturday<\/a> blog entry\u00a0and that someone reading the entry from that group might take offense.\u00a0 A much needed clarification is in order.<\/p>\n

Aside from individual friends and couples, we\u00a0tend to divide our time\u00a0with the members of a few set social groups – neighbours, karaoke buddies, no kidding!, stonecutters, band-geeks, and ex-Cons (no, not the criminal types).\u00a0 Of these social groups, some members we see on a daily basis.\u00a0 Some we see weekly.\u00a0 Others we spend time with on\u00a0a monthly basis.\u00a0 I’ve blogged about members of many of the groups\u00a0before.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The hubby is a stonecutter and we’ve met some wonderful people through his association with the group.\u00a0 Of course, the first time I attended an event it was a black tie dinner.\u00a0\u00a0I wore a floor length ballgown and pointy high heels.\u00a0 Drew wore a tux.\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 I know.\u00a0 It’s a shock.\u00a0 We’ve been to a few more dinners with couples Drew has met through this group and there’s usually a fancy outfit involved. Skirts and Blouses. Dresses. Heels.\u00a0 All the stuff I wouldn’t normally wear.\u00a0 The exception to the rule was the jeans and tshirts<\/em> attire for the backyard pig roast at J&R’s last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The “hoity toity” reference\u00a0had nothing to do with the personalities or people involved with the group.\u00a0 Just the clothes.\u00a0 We always have a fabulous time out with the couples we’ve met from this group.\u00a0 And I was sick ;(\u00a0 So Drew drank chocolate beer without me.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> Ex-Con s<\/em>are ex-employees of the company I used to work for before moving to the college.\u00a0 Many of us who were friendly while working there get together for an informal\u00a0monthly dinner to catch up on what’s happening in our lives.\u00a0 Only one of the group – 10-20 people depending on personal commitments – is still employed with the company.\u00a0 Thus we named ourselves ex-Cons<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
