  • Defective

Apparently whichever domestic beastie possessed me this weekend is somewhat defective. I used the toaster oven to broil fish for dinner and forgot I had a small plastic bag on the top of it. Not surprisingly it melted to the top during the cooking process.

After much scraping I manged to get the melted plastic off of the metal casing. Unfortunately there’s now a little bit of blue dye (with the name of my soon to be former employer on it) on the top corner that I’ll need to try and wash off. Not sure if there’s enough elbow grease in the world to fix this.

So much for taking care of myself and cooking healthier meals. Perhaps I should just go back to soup and sandwiches. I can’t screw them up! Or, at minimum, I should consider digging through the cupboards to break out the crock pot. It may be a good idea to stick with simple strews and chilis until I beat the defective domestic beasties into submission.

Didn’t manage to get the dogs out to get their nails trimmed today. The store where we normally take the uppy puppehs isn’t open on Sundays. Yet another thing to add to my ‘to do’ list this week. Will go well with the papers due and trips to the library.

    Basket case

She’s finally gone and done it. I need a new laundry basket. Fenris has split my laundry basket with her nightly sleeps. I’m not sure when in the night she moves from her dog bed to the basket but each morning when I wake up she seems to be curled up inside it.

I’m considering replacing it with a nice wicker basket style but figure I’ll end up with one similar to what we already have. Budget constraints and all that.

Tomorrow I need to bring the dogs down to get their nails cut. This could be quite the adventure. J is coming with me so that someone is sitting in the front seat and keeping the dogs in the back extension of the truck (not to be confused with the truck bed).

And just because Drew has been missing his girl; a photo of her as she was when we woke up in the morning.

    Ms Clean

Apparently I am channeling some form of domestic goddess today. When I woke up I looked out my window to discover it was still snowing. Plopped my feet into boots, grabbed the shovel, and shoveled my front walk, back decks, and backyard paths.

It looked like it would be snowing for hours yet so I decided to make an early morning trip to the grocery store rather than waiting. My fridge was pretty bare so it needed to be done. I woke up my neighbour J to bring her with me. She doesn’t have access to a vehicle so I always give her a call when I make my way to any grocery store. Fabric bags filled with fruits, vegetables, and fish we headed home.

It’s been about three weeks since I’d gone grocery shopping and a month since putting out the garbage. When you eat sandwhiches for most meals there’s not a lot of garbage to get rid of. After putting away the groceries, doing dishes, scrubbing out the microwave, planning the week’s meals, reorganizing the freezer, and putting out the garbage, I tackled the laundry.

Yes, once again I am facing down my arch nemesis, Mr Washing Machine.

I think someone may need to check and see if Drew is still breathing. He may be going into shock reading this.

This evening I’ll be digging back into my Stats texts and Experimental Psych books. Lots more to do before I’m caught back up in all my readings. I was planning on going to the library today but with the roads still messy I figured I’ll stay home and do the research parts of my assignments later in the week.

Tomorrow it’s supposed to snow once again. If nothing else, I’m getting a bit of vigorous exercise as I try to dig out. I’d rather spend time on the treadmill though. It’s warmer and I can watch TV.

Perhaps when Drew gets home we can get a Wii Fit. I’ve heard lots of good thigs about it.

I’m beginng to wonder if I’ve been taken over by some sort of symbiotic house cleaning alien. This is not normal Saturday behaviour for me!

    Desperately seeking suit

March 2nd, 2009 she Posted in Random Burbling 12 Comments »

I spent over an hour searching for my black suit this morning. I was feeling really uncomfortable in the new outfit. Once I had it on it just seemed too dark and severe with the blouse I had picked out. I decided to wear the light coloured camisole style blouse that I had hanging on the hanger with my suit. I thought it might look better with the skirt/jacket combo I bought.

I searched every closet, high and low, and had a minor breakdown but to no avail. I couldn’t find my suit anywhere. I’ve discovered that Drew has six suits (not including his kilt or uniforms) so he won’t need a new one anytime soon.

Me though. I need a suit. The nice classic black one I’ve owned for a few years now. Yeah. That suit.

Our house only has four tiny closets. I can’t believe I couldn’t find my suit in any of them. I did find dress shoes that turned out to be instruments of torture in disguise. But no suit.

The last time I recall seeing it was before Drew cut an access hole in the guest room closet to get into the attic. I know he emptied the closets to make the cuts and thought he’d just put all of the clothes back into the closet when he was done.

Either I was wrong or my suit has decided to go on walk about. I’m hoping Drew reads this and might have an idea where my suit ended up… ‘Cause I really don’t want a repeat of my mad dash search this morning and don’t have the time to search every inch of the house AND get all three of my papers finished this week.

    So Drew – any hints?

    5.5 hours later…

March 1st, 2009 she Posted in Random Burbling 1 Comment »

Took a lot longer than I expected to strip the red dye from my hair. I spent the entire day at the salon getting the red out but it’s finally done. Now it seems my glasses look more severe and school marm-ish.

    I also have bangs again.

Hair was trimmed to ensure everything remains healthy so I’m another inch shorter – at least.

Guess it was a good thing I saved so much money while shopping for a suit yesterday.

Now to try and get some homework done before the weekend is completely over…
