    new blogroll

January 12th, 2007 she Posted in Cargo Hold 12 Comments »

Yesterday I joined Trying to Catch Up in her Will Exercise for Comments activity campaign and thanks to some excellent bloggers I did 70 minutes of walking on my treadmill. Tonight, it looks like I’ll be putting in at least another half hour if the commenting keeps up.

I’ve joined her blogroll. Please take a moment to visit some of the other bloggers who are attempting to increase their activity – and comments – through this unique and creative exercise campaign.

Thanks to everyone who has been helping out – and please keep commenting!

    I will exercise for comments

January 11th, 2007 she Posted in Cargo Hold 33 Comments »

As I get older, I find I’m getting rounder and rounder. Sure, oblong or round are shapes, but not the ones humans are supposed to be in, I’m sure. Keeping track of my walking with my pedometer has been fun, but I still haven’t managed to crack the 10,000 steps a day barrier. Since I’m terribly lazy by nature, I am joining Trying to Catch Up on her will exercise for comments blog pledge.

    Blogger Pledge
    I will exercise for comments.

    Time Period: January 11 – January 31
    Type of exercise: Walking
Pledge: 1 minute on the treadmill per comment

It’s easy. Every day I will check my blog for the number of comments received on blog posts that day. If there are 10 comments, I will do 10 minutes on my treadmill. Of course, 10 minutes isn’t very long, so I’m hoping I’ll receive lots of comments each day.

Update 16:30: As of 4:30pm I have 50 comments listed with today’s date (including the ones from me) so I’m just starting my first trip to the treadmill this afternoon. Maybe I should have waited until after Thursday Thirteen was over to start this new exercise regime? Nah! Keep adding comments and I’ll return to the treadmill again later this evening. Thanks so much for your efforts so far today.

    love my designers

January 9th, 2007 she Posted in Cargo Hold No Comments »

I’ve had a few comments and questions (mostly via email) about the design for my blog and my header graphics. Today I thought I’d take a few minutes to plug the wonderful women who make me look so polished and ensure that my blog is always well dressed.

Luna from LunaStoneDesigns created the WordPress template I use for my blog. With her permission, I’ve played around with it a bit and made some minor tweaks to her code, but without her, I’d be nekkid – or at least still wearing a generic WP template. She’s also designed some great headers that I’ll be using when I’m in India and the Philippines later this month. No sneak peaks, you’ll just have to come back and visit to see them.

Zoe from Bubbles in my Head presented me with a great Christmas header as a reading prize in her winter read-a-ton contest. She has created the beautiful winter themed header graphic that’s keeping my blog nice and cosy this season and is also working on a spring, summer and fall theme to match.

Both of these designers do awesome work and I highly recommend them to anyone interested in a new look and feel for their blog. Their rates are also very reasonable for the work they do – making it very easy to become a repeat customer. Luna creates both Blogger and WordPress templates while Zoe sticks to Blogger (old) templates at the moment. Both also do piece work, as evidenced by my beautiful new headers.

If you like their work or are considering a new look for your own blog, please do take a minute to drop by their sites and say hello.

Disclaimer: I get nothing out of posting this other than the satisfaction of advertising a positive experience with two great designers. We often hear about people’s bad experiences with companies, but rarely hear about the good ones. It’s far easier to complain than to take a few minutes out to offer praise.
