  • Basket case

She’s finally gone and done it. I need a new laundry basket. Fenris has split my laundry basket with her nightly sleeps. I’m not sure when in the night she moves from her dog bed to the basket but each morning when I wake up she seems to be curled up inside it.

I’m considering replacing it with a nice wicker basket style but figure I’ll end up with one similar to what we already have. Budget constraints and all that.

Tomorrow I need to bring the dogs down to get their nails cut. This could be quite the adventure. J is coming with me so that someone is sitting in the front seat and keeping the dogs in the back extension of the truck (not to be confused with the truck bed).

And just because Drew has been missing his girl; a photo of her as she was when we woke up in the morning.

Apparently I am channeling some form of domestic goddess today. When I woke up I looked out my window to discover it was still snowing. Plopped my feet into boots, grabbed the shovel, and shoveled my front walk, back decks, and backyard paths.

It looked like it would be snowing for hours yet so I decided to make an early morning trip to the grocery store rather than waiting. My fridge was pretty bare so it needed to be done. I woke up my neighbour J to bring her with me. She doesn’t have access to a vehicle so I always give her a call when I make my way to any grocery store. Fabric bags filled with fruits, vegetables, and fish we headed home.

It’s been about three weeks since I’d gone grocery shopping and a month since putting out the garbage. When you eat sandwhiches for most meals there’s not a lot of garbage to get rid of. After putting away the groceries, doing dishes, scrubbing out the microwave, planning the week’s meals, reorganizing the freezer, and putting out the garbage, I tackled the laundry.

Yes, once again I am facing down my arch nemesis, Mr Washing Machine.

I think someone may need to check and see if Drew is still breathing. He may be going into shock reading this.

This evening I’ll be digging back into my Stats texts and Experimental Psych books. Lots more to do before I’m caught back up in all my readings. I was planning on going to the library today but with the roads still messy I figured I’ll stay home and do the research parts of my assignments later in the week.

Tomorrow it’s supposed to snow once again. If nothing else, I’m getting a bit of vigorous exercise as I try to dig out. I’d rather spend time on the treadmill though. It’s warmer and I can watch TV.

Perhaps when Drew gets home we can get a Wii Fit. I’ve heard lots of good thigs about it.

I’m beginng to wonder if I’ve been taken over by some sort of symbiotic house cleaning alien. This is not normal Saturday behaviour for me!

    MOT’s new friend

Apparently MOT makes friends where ever he goes.  After drinking the equivalent of a small lake in coffee, MOT finally managed to get his hands on one of the coveted Timmie’s KAF baseball caps. MOT, being a generous soul and understanding the finer details of marriage thanks to explanations from his traveling companion, will be sending the cap home for me to wear soon.  YIPPEE!

As for the rifle – MOT’s not authorized to go anywhere around the camp without carrying it with him. He’s getting pretty used to being armed to the teeth. Makes me wonder how he’s going to react when we bring him to Disneyland in the summer?

    psychological fatigue

Me and the paper apparently. I’m busy writing a paper for my MilPsych class regarding psychological fatigue, its effects and mitigating factors. Sure, the paper is about continuous operations in a combat environment, but I’m more than willing to stretch and say I’m suffering from the effects today as well.

I’ve been spending way too much time at the library in the evenings trying to get a handle on all my homework. I’m finally starting to understand Statistics – at least those associated with my class – but am not the greatest at memorizing formulas yet. At least I can seem to recognize some of them. I do know I’m NOT a fan of all the graphing and data entry in this class.

A package from Drew arrived today and brightened my mood considerably. He included a cute little teddy bear, some T shirts, and a gorgeous carved wooden bowl.  Ooh, and a handwritten letter.  Downside of the package was that he also included some cans of pop with Arabic writing on them that froze and exploded some where en route. I’m busy doing laundry at the moment to ensure that the shirts aren’t permanently damaged or stained.

Enough babbling.  Time to get back to my paper.  Due tonight and all that.  Needed this break though. One of the methods for combating psychological fatigue is a change in tasks and writing for my blog as opposed to writing a paper definitely constitutes a change.

    Miscellany

Yeah I know. I missed a day. Life intervenes on occasion.

Spent yesterday in a training class for a piece of software that I’ve been using for months. Didn’t learn anything new but certainly ended the day feeling dismissed, patronized, and condescended to by the Trainer. Checked with some other co-workers and found they felt the same way after the session. There was a clear bias (although, he categorization of people was unsupported by facts and based on his own unchecked assumptions) between the favoured group and the “others” and us “others” certainly noticed it.

Big storm blew through Edm last night and now I get to dig out. Oh joy. Where’s a snow shoveling fairy when you need one?

There’s an abandoned shopping cart on the sidewalk in front of my house. I am not amused. It makes shoveling difficult and looks like an eyesore. I have no idea who left it here. I didn’t check earlier but I’m going to see if the store name is listed on it so I can call tem to come retrieve their cart. I have no idea what I’m going to do if it doesn’t have any identifying marks on it or if the store refuses to come get it. All I know is that it can’t stay here.

Got multiple papers due Friday evening so it’s time to buckle down and write like a madwoman. Don’t expect to see or hear from me over the next few days.
