It’s been a few weeks since Amy tossed the box in the mail but it’s finally arrived!  I can’t wait to crack open the box and share the wealth.  In honour of this festive occassion, I’m changing my header graphic.  And maybe later I’ll take pictures of the box occupants.  *yippee*

    is it that time already?

I haven’t had time to upload the final colour scheme for the blog (thanks Luna) but I’m sure it’ll knock everyone’s socks off when I do have a chance to use it. In the meantime, I’m back in my basement – but sticking with the brown theme cause it’s just so darn shiny! – attempting to finish my paper before tomorrow. It’s 90% complete. I’m just struggling with establishing my own definition for personality and the subsequent justification for my interpretation. Bah!

Last night I took the evening off in order to head to the bar and watch the Oiler’s pay-per-view. Having never seen a hockey game on PPV before I’m ashamed to admit that it took me an entire period to notice that there are no commercials shown during a PPV game. Not that the lack of commercials made the game any better. The Oil got their panties smacked and I have a feeling we won’t be repeating our dreamlike 2006 run for Sir Stanley’s Cup.

I’ve also clued into the fact that I’m heading home to my mom’s in only a few short days. The trip has been planned for weeks but it’s easy to lose track of time when you’re madly typing away on papers and assignments. Mom got rid of her dsl connection years ago so I’ll be limited to dial-up access while I’m away. I’ll also be working on my final paper for my History class so I may not have a lot of opportunities to blog while I’m gone. We’ll have to play it by ear. If the news reports are correct you can expect to see me break out my blue theme while I’m away. Rumour has it there is still a tonne of snow out on the east coast!

Upperdate: 9pm and the paper is finished. Can I have a cookie now?

I’m back at work (and thus out of the basement) this week so I figured it would be a good time to change the colour scheme.  Since I spent some time last night moving over my old travel journal entries from the Philippines, I selected the browns.  I’ve big plans to move some of my old India travel records over to the blog at some time as well.  Not likely before the weekend…

Perhaps I should set up a poll and allow readers to vote to determine if people want the ability to change the theme based on their own preferences… Nah!  That’s way too democratic for me.

Of course, I have less than a week to finish my paper and no real idea what I’m going to say.  I guess I know what I’ll be doing each evening this week!

    prison diary: day two

Today, I resumed battle with the evil Psych paper. The purpose is to take a series of personality tests – the assignment provided a list of links of which 1/4 are not longer valid and 1/2 require payment to receive completed results – and evaluate their use, validity and the construction of the instrument. The topic could be interesting if I could just stop wandering the Internet aimlessly searching for free Personality tests. I’m cheap. I’m already paying over 600$ a class to attend school. I can’t afford to pay 8-85$ for test results just so I can complete my paper.

Yesterday, I switched over to my official locked in the basement blog theme. The original plan was to switch to the black/grey theme when I was feeling particularly cranky or moody. Upon reflection, I think it’s the perfect theme for all those sunny weekends when I’m locked in my basement writing papers or studying for exams when all my friends and neighbours are out playing. Wheeee! I sound like a 12 year old sentenced to summer school…

Amy stopped by and offered a companion. Everyone locked in a basement should definitely have one of these to protect them. Of course, I have two of the larger, crankier versions on the lookout for the evil prison guard. He randomly stomps into the room asking impertinent questions – “are you done yet? “, “when can we eat?”, “do you know what your personality is yet?”, and my particular favourite “I’m an extroverted exhibitionist with pyromaniac tendencies. See, it’s easier if you just make it up.”

Update: Found some freebie tests that offer full responses without requesting I fork over some form of payment. At least that part of the process is now complete.

Once again I am spending the weekend locked in my basement working on a paper. I expect most of my weekends over the next 3 years will likely be spent in the same manner.

A few weeks back when I loaded the new design and joked that you’d be able to tell my moods based on the theme I’d chosen from my page someone asked (Wendy I think) how people would be able to determine what mood I was in. Since then I’ve had Luna put together a few new headers and colour schemes. I think it’ll be pretty obvious now 😉
