Friday’s Feast: 122

My blog friend, Caylynn, has been doing this for a while so I thought I would try this out this week and see how it goes…

Feast One Hundred & Twenty Two
Appetizer: What was your very first job with a paycheck?

  • Baby-sitting doesn’t count right? I was a booking clerk at a photo studio for the summer (between grades 10 and 11). I was allowed to work during the summer, but not during the school year.

Soup: Did you ever lose something really important to you?

  • Prior to this year, I would have said that what was lost (stolen) that meant the most to me was my grandmother’s cross. My grandmother (on Dad’s side of the family) gave a cross and necklace to my mom after my parents married. My mom gave it to me when I graduated high school. About 6 years ago our house was broken into and the cross was stolen. I was so upset to lose a family piece, but my parents seemed happy that the hubby and I weren’t home at the time of the break-in. There was a bad spree of violent home invasions happening in the city at the time. However, it seems so trivial to mourn a piece of jewelry since losing my dad to cancer 2 months ago. Yeah, I’ve lost something really important to me.

Salad: What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

  • My hubby bought me a vacuum cleaner for our first Christmas together. We lived in an apartment with lots of crappy old ’70’s carpet and I desperately wanted one. Despite lots of people telling him buying me a vacuum would be the death knell of our relationship, he ignored them and bought me the present I still think shows that he really understands me.

Main Course: Tell about a favorite “hang out” place for you and your friends when you were in high school.

  • I was the nerdy loser with few friends. I didn’t have a hang out. I went home and did my homework.

Dessert: Name something that always brings a smile to your face.

  • My cat, Thanatos.
