bits & pieces

Today I’m concentrating on the little things that make up my day.
It was snowing outside when I woke up this morning and I don’t yet have my winter tires installed on the truck. Guess it’s time to make the annual appointment to get it done and load the sandbags in the bed to add traction and weight during storms. Granted, I’m not driving the truck at the moment. The back alley is still a mess from being dug up and the car is still stuck in the garage. We’re down to one vehicle between us for a few more days.
None of the backyard equipment has been stored for winter yet. The BBQ and firepit need to be hauled into the garage. The air conditioner commpressor needs to be wrapped in it’s cover. The table needs to be covered and the tarp tied down. I wonder if I can convince the hubby to do a chunk of the heavy work in exchange for a nice steak dinner when he arrives home from work?
The snow melted by 2pm and pools of water collected in the sunshade (this also needs to be taken down). I tried pushing the water out of it, only to soak my jacket and scare the bejeezus out of the dogs. Neither of them appear to be very amused with me at the moment.
I’m working from home today. Trying to get back into the swing of things after so many weeks away. I’m crawling through a mountain of email and documents to review. Hopefully, I’ll reach the end soon.
I have a fax machine in my home office. We use it to send and receive local faxes because we’re too lazy to use the reply envelope provided in city notices. Besides, it’s often quicker to fax something than it is to drive downtown, find parking, stand in line, produce ID and sign our lives away. Just last night I mentioned that I’d never actually used the fax machine – to send or receive anything – since we got it. All the mad dash faxing has always been done by the hubby. This afternoon, he sent me a “just because” fax from work.
The new episode of Dr. Who is on TV tonight. Of course, if it hadn’t been for the stupid CBC strike last year, we’d be watching episodes from season three along with everyone in Britain instead of season two! Bah!

Steak was a one day only offer. Will have to think of some other reward for all your hard work. Granted, if you’d checked the blog like I suggested, you wouldn’t have missed the original steak offer ;P
