Setback?

We don’t have a scale but we do have a Wii. The Wii has a scale. I really like the Wii Fit step aerobics. Tonight while playing on the Wii it told me I’d gained weight since my last weigh in. As much as I wanted to freak out, I didn’t run for a snack. Instead I tried on a pair of pants and a top I couldn’t get into two weeks ago before I started on this lengthy journey. The pants are still snug but I was actually able to get them on and buttoned! The top isn’t super tight. Just snug. So, I may be gaining some muscle mass from the exercise but I am seeing some positive results in the clothing department. Good thing I kept a few items of clothing I couldn’t fit into for a while. looks like they’ll come in handy to keep me motivated.

Perhaps the proper ‘next step’ to take is to take measurements so I can tell if I’m losing inches…

  1. So glad to hear you are staying positive. It is hard. I gian back all the weight I lost as well. Been a year since my inner ear infection and never got back at it. Glad to hear you are doing it slowly and correctly.

You mentioned the Wii fit step aerobics. Is that part of the Wii fit that you have the board with?

  2. Well, when you have as much weight to lose as I do and an 18-24 month plan to get there, I figure you gotta learn to deal with the mini set backs. Otherwise I’ll never change my habits.

The Wii Step Aerobics is on the game that comes with the board. In the beginning you get a 3 minute basic exercise – which I still clumsily try to manage. The more you do on the Wii Fit, the more exercises are “unlocked”. There’s a more advanced 5 minute step aerobics routine that I’ve tried a few times but I’m way too clumsy for it at the moment. Maybe after a more practice on the 3 minute routine. I usually do that for 5-10 sets (15-30 minutes) then walk on my treadmill.

You can buy a stand for the the Wii Fit board to make the step activity harder – we have it but I’m not ready to try it yet due to my distinct lack of co-ordination – and some handweights you can fit the controllers into. I think they’re 3lbs each or something like that.
