I know, I posted this a few minutes early. I just couldn’t stay awake until midnight. It’s my fourth Thursday Thirteen but the first one posted on a Wednesday night.
Christmas is just around the corner. The hubby tells me that he just doesn’t get hints. Those who know him likely wouldn’t be surprised to read this little tidbit. He’s repeatedly told me that if I want something specific I have to come out and say it.
This week’s Thursday Thirteen is my attempt to not only tell the hubby what I’d like, but put it in writing so he can refer back to it anytime he needs to. Of course, this list isn’t just for him – anyone wanting to grace my Christmas tree with these items will be loved and adored.

Thirteen Things about SHE. Christmas Wish List.
- TicTac Silvers – A few years ago I bought some Christmas tree ornaments stuffed with these. They’re so yummy but alas can’t be found in stores in my area. I’ve filled suitcases with them when traveling back from the US. I’ve been known to stoop to begging traveling co-workers to bring me some (thanks Dane!).
- Corky’s BBQ Sauce – Memphis is one of my favourite US cities. When in Memphis I always make a point to eat at Corky’s BBQ at least once. I’ve actually broken a suitcase bringing bottles of this stuff home (the bags weighed so much). Alas, I haven’t been to Memphis in a few years and have no sauce left…
- Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association: (5th Edition) – I’m going to need this for my next batch of courses at university.
- Learning to Solve Problems: An Instructional Design Guide – I’m working on expanding my resource library.
- Curriculum, Plans, and Processes in Instructional Design.
- Rapid Instructional Design: Learning ID Fast and Right, 2nd Edition.
- A flat panel monitor for my home office. It’ll hook up nicely on the back of the laptop when I’ve set my system into it’s dock and make working with documents a bit easier…
- A multi-function printer for the home office. Despite the planned office destination, this will be used mainly for scrap booking rather than work. The laser printer we have handles all of the office related print jobs I need. I want a multi-function printer to scan in photos and print digital photos we have on disk.
- A new chair for the home office. Unfortunately, to find a good replacement for the current chair, I’ll have to be in on the hunt. It has to satisfy both my back and my butt so a new chair can’t be a surprise purchase.
- Opera tickets – Hey hun, they’re running the Barber of Seville this year!
- Backscape – There’s just something about this print that really draws my eye and attention.
- MacBook or MacBook Pro – I know, I need a desktop system more than I need another laptop, but it’s still nice to dream. If I sit down and really think about it, I can’t justify purchasing a new system for a few years yet – that’s why this is called a wish list.
- A winning lottery ticket so we can pay off the mortgage years early.

And seeing as that’s from Memphis, it probably gets used on proper barbeque, not just grilled meat. (I had a friend from Tennessee give me chapter and verse one day on barbeque versus grilling, and promise never ever to use the wrong word. In return, I forbade her from using the term “pop a cap in my ass”. This sounds far too bizarre when spoken in a thick, full-on grits-and-gravy US Southern accent. I figured it was a fair trade. π

Thanks for stopping by my TT earlier!
I’m saving this particular topic until closer to Christmas. It takes lots of deep thought, you know? π I do need a new desk chair for home …
November 9th, 2006 at 11:09 am
Thanks for visiting my TT.
I like Corky’s BBQ, but I prefer the Rendevouz. Have you been there?
November 9th, 2006 at 11:34 am
Thanks for visiting my TT.
Over the years I’ve had a lot of people tell me they prefer Rendezvous to Corky’s. While the atmosphere is better at the Rendezvous and you do get to stay for as long as you want when you manage to get in – unlike Corky’s where you kind of get rushed out the door – I find the food isn’t as good.
The sauce is great, the meat is great, but everything else tastes the same to me. I want my beans to taste like beans and my slaw to taste like slaw…

This is terrible…but I think I want Christmas to be over!!!!
November 9th, 2006 at 1:24 pm
I can’t imagine a suitcase full of barbecue sauce! But, theirs is good!
My TT is up.

i’m on a macbook right now…. it’s awesome. hope you get one!
November 9th, 2006 at 10:58 pm
What a great list! My family has the “lottery code” which is basically if anyone wins it, they must pay off the mortgages of the entire “close” family. It’s fun to think about! I hope you get what you wish for and some nice surprises along the way!
November 10th, 2006 at 11:04 am
I don’t think that the list is spicific enough for me, better luck next year
November 10th, 2006 at 7:52 pm
Great list idea!
PS:
Suki – that’s so sad. There should be a way your friend could meet people like me who like to go to the theater and the opera and also have no one to go with.

[…] Back in November, I posted a Christmas Wish List because the hubby was complaining that he didn’t get hints. He wanted to know exactly what it is I was hoping to find under the tree. Christmas has come and gone and I’m here to report that I didn’t receive a single thing on my wish list. This week’s Thursday Thirteen is a list of things I found under my tree. […]
