Welcome to the 11th edition of the screaming pages Thursday Thirteen.
Back in November, I posted a Christmas Wish List because the hubby was complaining that he didn’t get hints. He wanted to know exactly what it is I was hoping to find under the tree. Christmas has come and gone and I’m here to report that I didn’t receive a single thing on my wish list. This week’s Thursday Thirteen is a list of things I found under my tree.
Warning: This list will aptly demonstrate that I am spoiled rotten.

Thirteen Things about SHE. Christmas Haul.
- NHL Official Jersey – Edmonton Oilers – #35 – Roloson.
- DVD player / Karaoke machine.
- Karaoke microphones. Ok, so now you all know my dirty little secret. I’m a Karaoke junkie…
- Black ankle length dress.
- Chapters gift certificates. I didn’t get any of the books on my original wish list, but these will help me pick up the APA Publication Guide in time for my next series of classes at university.
- CD’s – U218 Singles and “Best of 70’s” boxed set.
- Scrapbooking goodies – papers, stickers, etc.
- Karaoke CD’s (2).
- Scene It – Turner Classic Movies Edition.
- Fleece sheets for the bed.
- Porcelain Santa figurine.
- Levi’s 501 jeans.
- British (Imported) chocolates – Minstrels, Cadbury Buttons, Galaxy Bar.

Bonus List: We have two Christmas traditions in our house. The first is that we buy one tree ornament for each year we’ve been together (here). The second is that we receive presents from just about anyone – cats, dogs, fictional characters, imaginary friends, etc. The rule in our house is that you only receive one gift from Santa and one from each other. These are usually the two biggest gifts. All other items under the tree are tagged as being from someone else. The name on the tag often relates in some way to the gift or a family joke. Below is a list of gifts given or received and who they were from.
Thirteen Things about SHE. Gift Tags
- Christopher Moore’s A Dirty Job from The Librarian.
- Terry Pratchett‘s A Hat Full of Sky and Wintersmith from Rincewind.
- Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child’s The Book of the Dead from Thanatos.
- Snakes and Ladders drinking game (glass board and shot glasses) from the Lush Fairies.
- FoodSaver bags from the Kitchen Witches.
- Mobius Brain Teaser Puzzle from the gang at Mathnet.
- Various dog toys from Santa’s reindeer.
- New pj’s from the Dust Bunnies Under the Bed.
- Various CD’s from Music Fairies (I know, we were unoriginal when it came to music).
- Boxes of chocolates from Charlie.
- Calendars from Chronos.
- Gourmet hot chocolate from the Kitchen Gnomes (not to be confused with the witches).
- Wooden puzzle games from Fenris & Hypnos.

Oooh, I like the dress. Pretty. And that’s a great tradition. We’ve often had gifts “from” the pets, but this is very cool. I may steal the idea for next year. I mean, who wouldn’t love getting a gift from Rincewind? ๐

You recieved some really wonderful things for Christmas! I love the second list. The gifts, and who got them for you are great. That’s a wonderful tradition. Hope you have a very happy New Year!!!
December 28th, 2006 at 2:26 pm
Who ever game them, they were certainly generous. Some great traditions you’re building there.
Thanks for visiting my TT.

I love that second list..! That could really get fun – thinking up names of givers to go with the different gifts. It would turn into a giant game of Trivial Pursuit.
And then my aunt would set the girls up against the boys, like she did every year for about a decade.
And one person would say, “Give me pink ones, I’m really good at those!” and would then proceed to miss every single question in that category.
..hrm. Maybe the idea needs a little adjustment. (Or perhaps that’s just my -=relatives=- that need a little ‘adjustment’.)

Oilers jersey? I wouldn’t argue with that, either! That’s QUITE a gift!
Maybe next year, Trevor will send a present. Hopefully a copy of the book he’s starring in, but with him, you never know…
Happy TT and thanks for stopping by West of Mars. See you next week!
(Will you post a picture of you in your jersey?)

WordPress hates me, so I emailed this comment to myself on Thursday, and regrettably, I’m just now getting around to posting it here. Sorry. :embarassed:
I love the gift tag thing. One of the people Iรขโฌโขm quite fond of bought gifts for everyone from Teri Hatcher, his celebrity crush. I thought it was hysterical. Thanks for stopping by my list earlier.
